Take A Trip Down Memory Lane

From leaving school with no qualifications to building Lunar Caravans into one of the most recognised names in British caravanning, Brian Talbot’s story is a true rags-to-riches journey.

As co-founder of Lunar Caravans, Brian helped define an era of innovation and quality that left an enduring mark on the industry. He later went on to own Leisure Sales, where his vision, drive, and passion continued to shape the business we are proud to be today. His legacy now lives on through his son and grandchildren, who carry forward the values he built from the ground up here at Leisure Sales.

Today, that legacy shines in our fully restored 1972 Lunar Venus, proudly on display at our Cheshire showrooms.

Back in the early ’70s, caravans were built differently. Windows were real glass, set in solid aluminium frames — designed to last and easy to repair. Lighting wasn’t LED strips or touch panels; it was gas lamps with frosted shades that filled the interior with a soft, welcoming glow.

Even the wheels had character: painted steel rims topped with domed chrome hubcaps — strong, simple, and easy to fix roadside.

And the finer details? Cast-metal grab handles. No plastic, no moulding — just shaped steel bolted straight to the body. Functional, honest, beautifully engineered.

Caravanning has come a long way since then, but these timeless touches remind us of where it all began.

Our 1972 Lunar Venus is now on display at our Cheshire showrooms. Come take a trip down memory lane and experience a true piece of caravanning history for yourself.
